Essays Beyond Borders is hosting a writing workshop at this year’s Festalingwi in Malta. Open to writers aged 16 and over who are proficient in English, the workshop will explore essayistic approaches to writing about place.
Focusing on stones, participants will consider how seemingly ordinary objects can hold personal and cultural memories, while opening onto wider ideas, histories and relationships with place. Please bring pen and paper.
The workshop will be led by Associate Professor Mario Aquilina, Head of the Department of English at the University of Malta. It draws on work undertaken through Essays Beyond Borders, an Erasmus+ funded project led by the Department of English at the University of Malta.
When: Sunday, 25 October 2026, 11:00–12:30
Where: University of Malta Valletta Campus, Malta
