The inaugural Slovenian EBB essay writing workshop was announced in September 2024, sparking great interest among writers and enthusiasts alike. Workshop coordinator Andrej Blatnik carefully selected 10 participants from the pool of applicants. The group comprised five established authors—each with published works spanning poetry, fiction, and children’s literature (though none had previously published essays)—and five newcomers hailing from diverse professional backgrounds, including environmental studies, medicine, and music.

The workshop sessions were held between October and December. Participants will be submitting revised versions of their essays in February. These essays will undergo further evaluation, leading to their public presentation in February or March. Selected works will also be featured in various Slovenian digital and print media.

The public presentation will serve as a platform not only to showcase the participants’ efforts but also to announce the call for applications for the second workshop, scheduled to take place between March and May 2025.
