Essays Beyond Borders Easter School Programme Announced (Pisa, 7–10 April 2026)

The programme for the Essays Beyond Borders Easter School has now been finalised. Taking place in Pisa from 7–10 April 2026, the Easter School will bring together scholars, students, and writers for an intensive series of lectures, workshops, and discussions devoted to the theory and practice of the essay.

Across four days, participants will engage with leading scholars working on the essay from literary, philosophical, and creative perspectives. Sessions will address topics such as the relationship between the essay and totality, tone and citation in essay writing, the role of objects and space in the personal essay, and the emerging idea of the planetary essay. The programme combines lectures with hands-on workshops that invite participants to experiment with essayistic thinking and writing.

The Easter School will also run alongside the Essays Beyond Borders conference, with a number of sessions shared across the two events. This overlap will allow participants to engage with a wider international community of researchers and writers interested in essayistic forms.

The Easter School is organised as part of the Essays Beyond Borders project and is co-funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ programme, which supports international collaboration, mobility, and innovation in higher education. Through initiatives such as this Easter School, the project seeks to foster dialogue across languages, disciplines, and cultures while exploring the evolving possibilities of essayistic thinking.

The full programme is now available.
